Communities In Schools
- Mission:
- This organization seeks to surround students with a community of support and empower them to stay in school and achieve in life.
- Volunteer Duties:
- Spend one hour a week mentoring or tutoring a child at an elementary, middle or high school campus.
- Volunteer Requirements:
- Volunteers must fill out an application, provide three references, be at least 18 years of age and pass a background check.
- Training:
- Provided by Communities In Schools Mentoring staff
- Time Commitment:
- One hour per week at various times during school hours.
- Group Volunteering:
- Groups and volunteer teams are welcome.
- Recommended For:
- Students in the fields of mental health, criminal justice, psychology sociology, human services, education and social work, as well as others
- Benefits:
- Volunteers gain insight into working with children, while meeting new people and forming positive relationships.
